Hokuto (北斗 Hokuto?) first appears as a childhood friend of Harutora Tsuchimikado who is later revealed to be Natsume Tsuchimikado's shikigami.


Overview[]

Harutora's childhood friend who goes to a different school in the same prefecture. She is really well-informed of the Onmyouji and their responsibilities and has high expectations of Harutora and often lectures him to try becoming an Onmyouji. She even goes to the extent of writing an ema (Shinto wooden wishing plaque) to make Harutora an Onmyouji.

She had romantic feelings for Harutora and got really jealous when Harutora was kissed by Suzuka, to the point of shedding tears. During his next encounter with Suzuka, she sacrifices herself to save Harutora from Suzuka's familiar Tsuchigumo, when it was revealed that she was actually a shikigami. Her death prompted Harutora to become Natsume's familiar.

Hokuto is a teenage girl of average height and slim build. She has a neck-length brown hair and teal-colored eyes.

As a shikigami of Natsume's own creation, her appearance and design was based off on a popular idol that Harutora liked at the time.

Personality[]

Hokuto was a rather shy girl when she and Harutora Tsuchimikado first met, but after they became friends, she develops an upbeat and peppy attitude, while also enjoying the likes of teasing him. But, a firm and serious side in her has been shown when regarding Harutora's future as an omniyouji for she expresses worry when he expresses non-interest in the career and disregarding potential talent. As a being under direct remote-control from Natsume Tsuchimikado, she is in love with him.

Background[]

Hokuto met Harutora Tsuchimikado on the first day of summer in middle school where he saw her in a park. After some time, he had decided to chase her until she introduced herself on the last day of that summer. Since then, the two of them have been friends.

Etymology[]

  • The name Hokuto means "north" (北) (hoku) and "Dipper" (斗) (to).

Trivia[]

  • The type of familiar that Hokuto was an "operation type", this means that the controller, Natsume, was using Hokuto as a bridge to communicate with Harutora.
  • One of Hokuto's most significant moments is when she keeps the ribbon of the prize Harutora Tsuchimikado wins for her during the fair, which later hints at her being Natsume Tsuchimikado's shikigami as Natsume has the same ribbon. 
  • Hokuto's shikigami design was based off on a idol that Harutora liked.
